Getting to La Almuña

After your arrival in Spain, a hired car is essential to travelling throughout rural Andalucia.

We have listed the nearby airports below with some important information.

Please contact us for specific driving directions from your port of arrival.

45 Minute Drive to Gaucin:

  • Gibraltar Airport (GIB) – Located on the very southernmost tip of the Costa del Sol, Gibraltar Airport offers access for people visiting rural Andalucia. British Airways, EasyJet, and American Airlines fly from the UK to GIB. If you are hiring a car you can do so in Gibraltar or across the border into Spain.  Please allow plenty of time (sometimes over an hour) during the High Season in order to cross the border.

1.5 Hour Drive to Gaucin:

  • Malaga Airport (AGP) – Almost all major and discount airlines have services to and from Malaga airport.  Most low-cost UK airlines are located in the older Terminal 2 building.  When you fly into AGP there is usually a fairly long walk from the arrivals gate to the luggage collection area.  Once you have collected your luggage you must make your way to the new arrivals hall located on the lower level of the Terminal 3 building. All major car hire companies can be found on site outside of Terminal 3. Taxis and buses can be found outside of the arrivals hall.  This is also where most of the courtesy buses for the car hire or long term car parks will pick-up and drop-off.

7 Hour Drive to Gaucin:

  • Madrid Airport (MAD) – Madrid-Barajas Airport is located 12 kms from the Madrid city-centre.  It is the main Spanish airport serving the capital and handling daily flights for domestic routes, many short haul international destinantions, and a number of long haul flights, as well.  All major airlines and discount airlines have service to MAD.  Located outside of Terminal 1, lower level, you can find most care hire companies on site, (i.e. Budget, Avis, Hertz, etc.).  However, we recommend using Pepe Cars located a short 5 minute cab ride away from the airport.

8 Hour Drive to Gaucin:

  • Barcelona Airport (BCN) – Over 121 airlines fly in and out of Barcelona airport on a daily basis.  Ryan Air recently opened a hub in BCN.  All major car hire company desks are located in La Plaza Arrivals hall.
